Sidney Starr has been arrested in Georgia on multiple child sex charges, including aggravated child molestation and sodomy.

Booking records show the “Love & Hip Hop: New York” personality was taken into custody on Sunday by the Hapeville Police Department. She was also charged with sexual battery against a child under 16.

According to the records, Starr allegedly admitted to performing oral sex on a minor at an Embassy Suites hotel in Hapeville. She reportedly claimed the encounter was consensual, although a child cannot legally consent to sexual activity with an adult.

Her booking photo was released following the arrest. However, the full circumstances surrounding the allegations remain unclear.

Starr’s arrest has also revived scrutiny of one of the most controversial chapters of her career: the false claims that she had been romantically involved with rapper Chingy.

In a 2014 interview with VladTV, Starr admitted she fabricated the story years after the pair posed for a backstage photo at one of his shows in Chicago. She said friends convinced her the rumor would make her famous after she grew frustrated with life as a backup dancer. Instead, the claim spread across blogs and quickly spiraled far beyond what she expected.

Starr said she immediately regretted the decision and insisted she would never have spread the rumor if she had the chance to do it over again.

Chingy said Starr’s false relationship claims caused lasting damage to his career and cost him a major record deal. The rapper recalled meeting her backstage at a concert in Chicago, where she asked him for a photo. He said the interaction was brief and maintained there was never any romantic or sexual involvement between them.

According to Chingy, the rumor gained traction despite there being no evidence to support it. He said the negative publicity became so intense that a record deal ultimately fell through. The controversy also changed how he interacted with fans. Chingy admitted he became more cautious about taking photos with strangers because he feared another person could later attach a false story to the image.

Even so, the rapper said he eventually forgave Starr after she admitted the claims were fabricated and reached out through his representatives. Chingy described her actions as “foul,” but said he did not want to respond with bitterness. He added that Starr’s attempt to gain attention came at his expense and warned that using other people to get ahead is never the right path.
