Nigerian gospel artist Asu Ekiye has cleared the air regarding his marital separation, denying claims that he initiated the divorce proceedings against his wife.

This clarification comes just two days after the singer announced the end of their 28-year marriage on social media, a revelation that sparked widespread reaction from fans and the gospel community. read here

In a follow-up statement released on his official social media page, the veteran musician revealed that his estranged wife was the one who moved to dissolve the marriage. Ekiye stated that she packed her belongings and ended the union abruptly, without any prior quarrel or misunderstanding.

According to the singer, he made multiple attempts to reconcile and save the decades-long marriage. However, his efforts proved abortive as she proceeded to file for divorce and legally concluded the process.
