2027 poll: APC reopens membership registration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the reopening of its electronic membership registration exercise nationwide ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise will resume on Monday, August 31, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
The party urged its stakeholders, supporters and members, including new and intending members, to participate in the exercise across wards nationwide.
“We invite all Party stakeholders, supporters and members, old and new, to participate in the APC Membership Electronic-Registration Exercise,” the statement said.
“The exercise will be conducted in all wards nationwide. Existing members are expected to validate their membership, while new and intending members are encouraged to register and join the progressive family.”
The APC said applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
According to the party, the exercise is aimed at digitising its membership register while improving the integrity, accessibility and management of membership data.
It added that the digital register would facilitate more efficient access to membership information for planning and management decisions, promote internal democracy and strengthen the party’s adoption of technology in its administration.
The latest exercise follows the nationwide electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise conducted by the APC earlier this year.
The party commenced the exercise in January and later extended the registration deadline from January 31 to February 8 following requests from stakeholders for more time to register and validate their membership.
The APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, had said the party expected its digitally verified membership to rise to between eight million and nine million within two weeks of the exercise.
Similarly, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, said in March that the technology-based membership system had strengthened the party’s organisation and mobilisation by providing accurate and verifiable data on its members.
