Okpebholo’s Aide to Davido: Don’t come to Edo + Video

The Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Apostle Kassy Chukwu, has warned Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to stay away and declared him “banned” from performing in Edo State.
The media aide made the declaration in a video shared on YouTube by Peniel TV International Benin City, Nigeria on Thursday.
His reaction followed Davido’s refusal to apologise for remarks he made about Okpebholo after the governor criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, during the build-up to the August 15 governorship election.
Davido had shared what appeared to be the Edo governor’s WASSCE result on his Instagram Story.
The singer later defended the post in an interview, saying he had no reason to apologise for sharing the academic record.
“I’m not going to apologise. I didn’t do anything wrong. I was just telling people of the state the results their governor has,” Davido said.
Davido also criticised Okpebholo for travelling from Edo to campaign in Osun and questioned the governor’s electoral mandate.
Reacting, Chukwu released a viral video stating that Davido is barred from performing anywhere in Edo State for the remainder of Governor Okpebholo’s administration.
“You have been banned from coming to Edo State to perform. We don’t want to see you in Edo again,” he said.
The aide claimed that local Edo youths are angry over the singer’s comments and warned that Davido risks facing a highly unfriendly or hostile reception if he attempts to visit or perform.
He added that the singer would not be welcome in the state for the remaining years of the administration.
“Edo youths are angry. They said if they catch you again, nobody should bring Davido to come and perform in any place again in Edo State,” he said.
The aide further criticised Davido’s earlier social media post concerning Okpebholo’s academic record, describing the document as allegedly manipulated and warning the singer against making similar posts.
