The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, says it has rescued five kidnapped victims while a female victim died in captivity in the state.
Adetunji Adeleye, Commander, Amotekun Corps, disclosed this on Monday in Akure while parading 14 suspects for various offences.
“For breaking of law and order, we have nine suspects; five for kidnapping and cattle rustling,” he said.
Mr Adeleye, who said the success was recorded after Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa gave the order to rescue the victims unhurt, explained that two of the victims were rescued in Okeigbo.
He said the corps developed non-kinetic measures in identifying the kidnappers in the depth of the reserve forest, several kilometers away from the scene.
“A couple of days ago, we had this isolated case of kidnapping in Okeigbo and nine of the Special Squad of Amotekun moved immediately.
“We were able to rescue a life without a problem, the man. But unfortunately, by the time we got there, the lady was exhausted and we couldn’t revive her because we met her dead or unconscious.
“Also, two weeks ago in Owo Local Government Area, we were able to successfully, without payment of ransom, secure the release of the two boys that were kidnapped.
“For yesterday night, we were equally able to rescue two men in the Ala-Dada axis that were being kidnapped,” he said.
The Amotekun commander, therefore, said the border patrol teams of the corps were still effective and the rangers were domiciled in the forest and metropolitan areas.
“Our men are manning every major junction within the metropolis to ensure that there is peace and safety of lives and property,” Mr Adeleye said.
