Osun 2026: God got us, Davido backs Adeleke amid political tension, opposition jabs + Photos

Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has firmly encouraged his uncle, the incumbent Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to ward off political jabs from the opposition, reassuring him that “God got us”.

This reassurance comes amidst rising political tension and traded barbs ahead of the crucial August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.

Amidst these jabs, Davido arrived in Osun State to actively campaign for Adeleke.

He held a press conference urging external political actors to stay away from the state and let the voters decide.

He specifically appealed to an unnamed politician from Imo State to allow a free and fair election in Osun.

The award-winning musician alleged that he had heard rumours of plans to interfere in the August 15 governorship poll.

Although the singer did not mention Governor Hope Uzodimma by name, he appealed to the politician to promote peace and allow Osun voters to freely choose their preferred candidate.

Reacting in a statement issued on Thursday, Governor Uzodimma’s media aide, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu said Davido should direct his appeal for a peaceful and credible election to the people of Osun State rather than his principal.

He said the concerns raised by Davido were misplaced, arguing that the outcome of the election would be determined by the electorate in Osun State.

Nwaogwugwu predicted that Governor Ademola Adeleke would lose his re-election bid, claiming that many voters in the state had become dissatisfied with his administration.

“The reality is that Governor Ademola Adeleke has, in the opinion of many, failed woefully in the discharge of his responsibilities.

“This is why many Osun voters are determined to vote him out in the August 15, 2026, governorship election,” the statement read.

Unfazed by the reaction, Davido took to his verified X handle on Thursday and posted photos of himself sharing a warm embrace with the governor while expressing optimism about the upcoming political contest.

“We got this #aadeleke_01 God got us,” Davido simply wrote.

The singer’s show of support comes ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, where Governor Adeleke is seeking a second term in office under the Accord Party platform.
