Oyo 2027: ADC candidate stirs reactions after sharing boiled corn with supporters + Video

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for Oyo State, Chief Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke, has sparked widespread social media reactions after a video emerged of him distributing and eating boiled corn by the roadside with supporters.

In the viral video, Adegoke was seen standing next to a large pot of boiled corn at a roadside stall, personally handing out ears of corn to a crowd of cheering supporters.

The interaction took place ahead of the upcoming political campaigns for the Oyo State gubernatorial race.

On-site supporters enthusiastically embraced the gesture, chanting slogans, hailing him as “Mr. Governor,” and calling the direct distribution a blessing

The video has since generated mixed reactions online, with opinions divided over the politician’s public display.

While many Nigerians dismissed the display as a clichéd, manipulative electioneering tactic, others questioned why politicians only patronise roadside vendors or eat local street food when an election cycle is approaching.

Conversely, some defenders praised Adegoke, stating that he is naturally a grassroots figure who easily mingles with ordinary citizens regardless of political timing.

Political analysts noted that this form of “populist imagery”—such as eating corn, buying roasted plantain, or riding commercial motorcycles—remains a staple strategy for politicians looking to appear relatable to the masses.
