Online sources state that after filming a procession associated with the 2026 Oloolu Masquerade Festival in Ibadan, Oyo State, a content creator was subjected to traditional cleansing rituals.

Chief Adeola Oloko, the spokesperson for the Olubadan of Ibadanland, stated that the woman recorded Alawo Oloolu instead of the revered Oloolu masquerade.

“She mistook it for Alawo and failed to capture Oloolu.” According to him, the woman’s family sought assistance from the traditional custodians when she apparently fell unwell after sharing the video online.

“She noticed the blood in her body started to dry after posting it.” Oloko emphasized that “women are not supposed to see Oloolu” and urged others to follow the norm, adding that the woman was treated in accordance with local traditions.

Videos of the shaven-headed woman participating in customary rituals while wearing red clothing have been making the rounds online.

Ayo Adams, a content producer from Ibadan, reported that officials at the Oloolu complex confirmed the woman has reconnected with her family and is recuperating following the required ceremonies.

The Oyo State Police Command, however, stated that since no official report was filed, it had no knowledge on the occurrence.
