Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man and recovered roofing materials valued at N2.26 million following a th3ft incident in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area.

The arrest was made through intelligence-led operations and routine visibility patrols, according to the command’s spokesperson.

The case was reported on Tuesday by a shop owner from Gandunwambai, Azare, who discovered that unknown persons had broken into his shop along Kano Road using a master key and removed 460 metres of Stonecut roofing sheets.

Detectives from Azare Police Division were immediately deployed to the scene and, based on credible intelligence, intercepted the stolen materials along the Azare–Jama’are Road.

One suspect, Muktari Rufa’i, 35, was apprehended during the operation, whilst the recovered roofing sheets were valued at N2,260,000.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the th3ft and identified a second suspect, Evra Pizo from the same address, as his accomplice.

The second suspect remains at large, with efforts underway to track him down.

The arrested suspect is being held at Azare Division pending transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police commended the Divisional Police Officer and officers of Azare Division for their swift response and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
