"She said his standard is below hers" – Nigerian man narrates how his nephew’s wife ended their marriage after securing high-paying job

A Nigerian man, Ere Efeke, has revealed that his nephew’s wife ended their marriage after securing a high-paying job.

He disclosed this in a Facebook post on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 after receiving the returned bride price from the woman’s family.

According to Mr Efeke, his nephew still loves the wife but the woman said he should either upgrade to match her new standard or part ways. 

“Yesterday, I had the sad experience of receiving the returned Bride Price from my Nephew’s wife’s family,” he wrote.

 

“The worst thing is that my Nephew still loves her and want the marriage to continue but the wife after landing a high paying job said his standard is below hers so he should upgrade or part ways.

 

“Such is life. Marriage and Divorce. Let me go and relax in Abuja and get over this bitter experience.”
