A young man has been apprehended by residents in Kumasi after he allegedly broke into a young woman’s room in the middle of the night and stole her mobile phone and GH¢500.
According to reports, the suspect entered the victim’s room while she was asleep and managed to take her belongings before escaping.
However, in an unusual twist, the suspect reportedly returned to the same house to pick up his slippers, which he had left behind during the alleged robbery.
The victim, who had woken up to discover that her phone and money were missing, said she only managed to pick up the suspect’s slippers after he fled. She was reportedly surprised when the suspect returned, giving her the opportunity to identify him and raise an alarm.
Residents who responded to her call surrounded the young man and apprehended him before handing him over for further action.
During questioning, the suspect allegedly confessed to stealing the phone and money. He claimed he was learning tailoring and currently lived with his mother and elder sister.
The incident has attracted attention online, with many people expressing disbelief over the suspect’s decision to return to the scene of the alleged crime for his slippers.
