A Minnesota, USA nurse and her two adult sons have been found dead inside a residence in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, in what law enforcement authorities are treating as a double murder-suicide carried out by her eldest child.
The victims were identified as 43-year-old Jamie Lee Charles and her younger son, 19-year-old William Samuel Shaw Jr. Police identified her eldest son, 22-year-old Jaymison Samuel Shaw, as the sole suspect in the fatal shootings.

Officers discovered the three bodies on Sunday, August 30, after being dispatched to conduct a welfare check at a townhouse in the 3200 block of 78th Street East.

“Preliminary findings indicate this incident was a double murder-suicide,” Inver Grove Heights Police Chief Melissa Chiodo confirmed in an official statement.
“Based on the investigation to date, the incident appears to have been contained within the residence and Jaymison Shaw has been identified as the suspect.”

While law enforcement has not publicly released details regarding a motive or the specific circumstances that prompted the welfare check, extended family members noted that the eldest son had been struggling with mental health issues.
Charles had been employed as a nurse with the Minneapolis VA Health Care System for nine years. Her younger son, William, was a 2025 graduate of Simley High School, where he played for the varsity boys’ basketball team. The Inver Grove Heights Police Department confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
