Tupac murd3r trial prosecutor won’t rule out going after Diddy if new evidence emerges

Sean “Diddy” Combs could still face charges in connection with the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur if prosecutors uncover new evidence, the Clark County District Attorney has said.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said that prosecutors have not completely ruled out charging Combs, but stressed that there is currently insufficient evidence to do so.

“At this point, we don’t believe we have sufficient evidence to charge anyone else with the death of Tupac Shakur,” Wolfson said. “But, like any other case, if we come into more information, more evidence, we can always consider filing additional charges.” Wolfson’s comments came a day after a Las Vegas jury convicted Duane “Keefe D” Davis of murder in connection with the drive-by shooting that killed Shakur in September 1996.

During Davis’ trial, jurors heard recorded police interviews in which Davis claimed Combs offered him $1 million to kill Shakur and Death Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight. Davis alleged that Combs wanted to “get rid of those dudes” and had several conversations with him about killing them.

Combs has denied any involvement in Shakur’s murder. A source close to him previously told TMZ, “Diddy had absolutely nothing to do with the Tupac murder. He did not pull the trigger or set it up.” Prosecutors argued that Davis organized a group of Crips gang members to retaliate after Shakur and others allegedly assaulted Davis’ nephew, Orlando Anderson, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas earlier that night.

Davis was convicted of murder with the use of a deadly weapon and with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang. He faces a possible life sentence, with sentencing scheduled for October 13. Combs is currently serving a four-year prison sentence after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
