Edo SSG rallies APC faithful for membership drive, voter registration

The Secretary to Edo State government Musa Ikhilor Esq has charged political appointees, party leaders, party faithful, government officials to massively mobilize to register new members into the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the ongoing registration exercise to strengthen the party numerically.

Ikhilor made the call while hosting political appointees, party leaders, party faithful and government officials at his residence in Irrua to celebrate Eid-al-Adha.

The SSG earlier hosted neighbors, Arewa and Muslim Community on the 27th before finally hosting Political appointees, party leaders, and government officials on the 28th of May 2026 to celebrate Eid-al-Adha.

He called on the people to use the opportunity of the continuous voters registration exercise to get themselves registered and set to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the general election in 2027.

“We know that Asiwaju is satisfied and his 2.5 million votes is sure in Edo State. We are using this medium to tell our people that the continuous voters registration exercise is ongoing. We are mobilizing as officials and moving around our communities to encourage people that have not registered.

“Let us continue to sensitize people on the need to get registered. I urged party leaders to mobilize and actualise the 2.5 million votes for Tinubu come 2027 Presidential election”.

He commended Commissioners and other political appointees for the various roles they have played in assisting governor Monday Okpebholo in actualising his electioneering promises to Edo people, ensuring that the people enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Ikhilor said “It has been memorable in the past two days and I thank you all because without your cooperation both events will not have been successful.

“I have been praised today by different people but all thanks to governor Monday Okpebholo who has made this possible as I wouldn’t have succeeded without the governor.

“We thank God for what God is using the governor to do in Esan land and Edo State in general. We thank the governor for all the infrastructure and human capacity development”.

He commended the governor for providing various food items for Edo people during all festive periods in the State as all the three Senatorial Districts have benefited from it, adding that governor Okpebholo does this during Christmas, Easter and Sallah celebrations.

The Commissioner for water resources, Hon. Felix Akhabue in his goodwill message commended Bar Musa Ikhilor Esq for hosting such a gathering which he noted is an avenue for effective campaign because of the opportunity to interact and relate.

“The SSG is a unifier, bringing people together as this is the third time I am attending this kind of gathering both in his house in Benin and Irrua.

“The governor can’t be everywhere as he has foot soldiers and SSG is one of his strong foot soldiers ensuring the governor delivers the dividends of democracy to Edo people”.

Akhabue called on commissioners, Special Advisers (SA), Senior Special Assistant (SSA) and other political appointees to learn from SSG on how to bring people together as a form of campaign and goodwill for Mr. Governor

APC leader in Edo Central Senatorial District, William Shaka Momodu commended the SSG for playing a major role enabling the governor to achieve his electioneering promises to Edo State.

“We are all gathered here today to celebrate with our SSG who have invited us all to his home to celebrate the sallah with him”.

Representing the Arewa Community, Hon. Bawa thanked the governor for his developmental stride in the State, noting that senator Monday Okpebholo is developing the State with various infrastructural projects scattered across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.

“All the 18 local governments are feeling the positive impact of the Okpebholo led administration as these various projects embarked on by this administration will benefit and improve the livelihood of Edo people.

Other guests at the occasion include commissioners for women affairs and social development Hon. Bisi Idaomi,Rt Hon Festus Ebea, Commissioner for Public Safety and Security, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor,Dr Patrick Ebojele,officials from Edo State Transport Authority, Edoline, Edo State Waste Management Board, Special Advisers, CMD Edo Specialist Hospital, Arewa Community, CMD ISTH, Ward Chairmen amongst others.
