Boy, 11, ‘stabbed in the back’ as child of same age is detained by cops

An 11-year-old boy was rushed to hospital following a stabbing incident in Blackburn, with a boy of the same age detained on suspicion of assault. 
Lancashire Police revealed that officers were summoned shortly before 7pm on Monday, June 22, after reports of a stabbing in the Fishmoor Drive area. 
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, responded and the victim was transported to hospital.

He reportedly arrived the hospital with a “puncture wound to his back”. 
Police confirmed the injury was fortunately not as severe as initially feared and was not life-threatening. 
A second 11-year-old boy was detained on suspicion of assault and has subsequently been released on bail while further investigations are conducted. 
Lancashire Police is now urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. 
In a statement, a force spokesperson told LancsLive: “We were called at shortly before 7pm yesterday (Monday, June 22nd) following a report of a stabbing in the Fishmoor Drive area of Blackburn.”, reports Lancs Live. 
“Officers attended and the victim, a boy aged 11, was taken to hospital suffering a from a single puncture wound to the back. Thankfully, his injury is not as serious as first thought and is not life threatening. 
“A second 11-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further enquiries. Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log 1378 of June 22.” 
Meanwhile, a murd£r investigation has been launched after police found a body in the search for a missing 14-year-old girl in south Wales. 
Formal identification has yet to take place but police said the family of Lilly, aged 14, who had been reported as missing to Gwent Police has been informed.

The body was discovered in the Duffryn Park area of Blaina at around 10.10pm on Monday, June 22. 
She had previously been reported missing, having last been seen in High Street, Blaina at around 6.50pm on Saturday June 20. At that time the teen was wearing a long black dress and black sandals. 
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murd£r after Lilly’s body was found in the park. 
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas, said: “We understand that this will cause distress and concern amongst our communities. 
“We have a large police presence in the area at this time as enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death. Our officers are here and available for you to speak to. 
“We encourage anyone with information to please speak with us or you can contact us on the usual channels.” 
Police and forensic investigation teams remained at the scene on Tuesday, June 23, as the probe continues.
