Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has drawn significant attention after exiting the Accra High Court following today’s proceedings, performing what observers have described as a personal confidence ritual on the court steps before departing.
A video we’ve intercepted shows Chairman Wontumi, dressed in a camel-coloured double-breasted suit with a red tie, stepping out of the courtroom and pausing on the steps to tilt his head back and gaze skyward for several minutes.
He then bent forward and pressed his fingers to the ground before licking them, after which he proceeded calmly to his vehicle and drove away.
The ritual, which was performed quietly and without fanfare, has been interpreted by those close to him as a personal expression of confidence and faith in a favourable legal outcome.
Chairman Wontumi did not address the media on the steps of the court following the proceedings. The specific nature of the case before the Accra High Court and the outcome of today’s proceedings were not disclosed in available reports at the time of publication.
The footage has since circulated widely on Ghanaian social media, generating considerable commentary about the significance of the gesture and what it reveals about Chairman Wontumi’s state of mind regarding his ongoing legal matter.
