Ekiti guber: INEC begins upload of polling unit results on IReV

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced the upload of polling unit results from the Ekiti State governorship election to its Result Viewing, IReV, portal.

The results started appearing on the portal at about 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, following concerns raised by stakeholders over delays in making polling unit outcomes publicly accessible online.

One of the early results uploaded showed the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Biodun Oyebanji, defeating the African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide, at Polling Unit 4, Ward 2, in Ekiti South West Local Government Area.

According to the result, Oyebanji secured 140 votes, while Bejide polled 37 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate received two votes at the polling unit.

As of the time of filing this report, only about 20 per cent of polling unit results had been uploaded to the IReV portal, with the process continuing across the state.

The IReV platform was introduced by INEC to enhance transparency in the electoral process by allowing the public to view scanned copies of polling unit results in real time as they are uploaded by election officials.
