The heavy rainfall that swept across parts of Lagos on Sunday, June 28, leaving several areas submerged, also disrupted activities at some restaurants across the state.
A video circulating on social media on Monday, June 29, captured the unusual scene inside an unnamed restaurant where customers continued eating despite floodwater flowing through the premises.
In the clip, diners are seen lifting their feet off the flooded floor while trying to enjoy their meals. Some customers reportedly removed their expensive slippers and hung them on the arms of their chairs to keep them from coming into contact with the dirty floodwater.
The video also shows a member of the restaurant’s staff handing out black bin bags, which customers tied around their feet in an effort to protect themselves from the water.
The bizarre scene has since sparked reactions online, with many expressing disbelief that customers chose to remain in the restaurant despite the flooding, while others sympathized with businesses affected by the heavy downpour.
