Krispy Kreme recalls World Cup doughnut with urgent âdo not eatâ warning

Krispy Kreme has issued a recall of selected World Cup-themed doughnuts after discovering that some products contain hazelnut filling that was not declared on the label, posing a potential risk to customers with nut allergies.
The recall affects individual Pitch Perfect Doughnuts purchased on June 19 or June 20, as well as Matchday Dozen 12-pack boxes with best-before dates of June 21 and June 22.
According to the company, the affected products were sold at Krispy Kreme stores in Peterborough, Peterborough Queensgate, Leicester, Nottingham, Ipswich, Norwich and Cambridge. The football-themed doughnuts were launched to coincide with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but the company later identified that a batch contained undeclared hazelnut filling.
In a statement, Krispy Kreme said it takes consumer safety seriously and acted after identifying the issue. “Krispy Kreme takes its responsibilities to consumers extremely seriously and always aims to ensure the highest possible standards of product safety,” the company said. It added: “We are sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this product recall may cause.”
Customers who purchased the affected products have been advised not to consume them if they have a hazelnut allergy. Krispy Kreme said customers seeking a refund should contact its customer service team, providing details of where the product was purchased, a photograph of the item and the relevant batch number.
The recall comes as several food and beverage companies continue to launch World Cup-themed products and promotions to mark the tournament being hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Among them, Walkers has introduced three limited-edition flavours inspired by participating nations, while PepsiCo has also launched World Cup-themed products across its Doritos and Wotsits brands.
