Soldier allegedly shoots driver d3ad in Ondo


A driver, identified as Solomon James, was allegedly shot d3ad by a soldier in Ore, Ondo State.
It was gathered that the incident which occurred at about 2:30 p.m on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 caused disruption of vehicular movement along the Okitipupa–Ore Highway.
According to Ondo state owned publication, Hope Newspaper, the deceased, who was reportedly transporting kegs of diesel in his vehicle, was allegedly pursued by a soldier riding a motorcycle before being shot around the D-Choice area in Ore.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the chase continued for some distance before gunshots were fired at the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses said the driver was hit during the incident, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and come to a stop in a nearby bush, while the soldiers allegedly fled the scene immediately.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting remain unclear as of the time of filing this report, and authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the development.
