Woman ‘gang raped by men who pretended to offer her a job’

A 20-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped and filmed by a group of men after they reportedly made her think she was going to be given a job. Police have launched an investigation following the incident, which happened at a beauty parlour in Bhubaneswar, India.

As reported by the New Indian Express, two people have been arrested following the incident and are searching for a third suspect.

A manhunt has been launched for the suspect, who it is understood was a customer at the business.

Police say the victim had recently finished a beauty parlour training course and was looking for a job on June 2. At this point, she was allegedly offered a job at the parlour.

Then, officers believe, she was gang-raped on the premises the following day, before she was threatened that there would be consequences if she told anyone.

However, she reported the incident to police at the Khandagiri and she was taken to hospital for treatment.

The parlour has been sealed off while the investigation is underway.

As reported by the Express, the incident is the latest in a line of horrific alleged gang rapes.

A 41-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped by 10 people in an attack in Karnataka, southern India. The assault reportedly took place in the Davangere region in early June and footage of the attack circulated in Whatsapp groups, the Times of India says.

The victim left home after a domestic dispute and was walking to her parents’ house when she was approached by two men.

They allegedly gave her a drugged drink, which led to her passing out, and she was taken to a farm and filmed as the attack happened.

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Davengere Superintendent said.

He added: “We have secured all 10 accused in the case. Further investigation is underway.”
