2027: Tinubu’s support group launches ‘Market-to-Market’ campaign in South-East

A support group for President Bola Tinubu, the Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria (RHGN), has launched a ‘Market-to-Market’ campaign in the South-East as part of efforts to mobilise grassroots support for the President ahead of the 2027 general election.

The campaign was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Ariaria International Market in Aba, Abia.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy National Leader of RHGN for the South-East, Mazi Franklin Ngoforo, said the initiative would involve engaging traders across the market on a shop-to-shop basis to explain the impact of the Tinubu administration’s economic policies on their businesses.

According to him, the campaign is designed to ensure that traders understand how recent economic reforms are affecting commerce and livelihoods in the region.

Ngoforo said the unification of Nigeria’s foreign exchange market had eliminated a system that allegedly allowed politically connected individuals to obtain foreign exchange from the Central Bank of Nigeria at subsidised rates before reselling it to genuine traders at higher prices.

He argued that the policy had improved access to foreign exchange for traders and importers, particularly those in the South-East, where commerce and importation are major economic activities.

He also linked ongoing development projects in Abia State to the Federal Government’s economic reforms, saying increased revenue allocations to states following the removal of fuel subsidy and exchange rate unification had enhanced the state’s capacity to execute projects.

Ngoforo urged traders to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

“The message must reach every corner of this market. Traders deserve to understand, in clear terms, how national economic policy is shaping their daily business fortunes,” he said.

Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated market team, the Coordinator of the Ariaria Market Wing of RHGN, Chief Clifford Igbokwe, popularly known as Ogbuefi Mbaukwu, thanked the group’s leadership for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to deliver on the assignment.

He said the inauguration of the Ariaria Market Wing forms part of the group’s broader expansion across the South-East.

According to him, RHGN recently launched its Booth Army and Campus Wing structures in Owerri and also carried out an outreach programme for Pentecostal clergy in Awka.

He added that the introduction of the Market Wing further expands the group’s mobilisation strategy across markets, educational institutions and religious organisations as it seeks to build support for President Tinubu in the region ahead of the 2027 elections.

The inauguration attracted traders, importers and market leaders from Ariaria International Market, one of West Africa’s largest commercial centres.
