âAn actorâs marriage is not my responsibilityâ â Producer Biodun Stephen defends kissing scenes in Nollywood

Filmmaker Biodun Stephen has responded to critics blaming movie producers for kissing scenes in Nollywood, saying it is not a producer’s responsibility to protect an actor’s marriage.
Reacting to the criticism in a video, Biodun said actors and their spouses understand the demands of the profession, adding that decisions about intimate scenes are discussed before filming.
She explained that while some actors decline kissing scenes due to personal beliefs and directors work around it, others have no objections. According to her, a producer’s duty is to protect actors on set and present them respectfully on screen, not to “salvage” their marriages.
Biodun also dismissed comparisons with Hollywood, noting that Nollywood’s fast-paced production schedule leaves little room for actors to build off-screen chemistry. She added that her focus has always been ensuring actors are treated professionally throughout filming.
