An X user has sparked conversations online after sharing why she believes every woman should have her own source of income before getting married.

According to her, the conversation started after her mother mentioned a younger woman who got married immediately after university and is now a full-time housewife, despite being a trained lawyer.

She said she asked her mother what would happen if the woman’s husband suddenly lost his job or passed away, questioning whether she would be able to provide for the family. While stressing that she wasn’t wishing anyone harm, she noted that times have changed and women should be financially independent.

The lady added that whenever she decides to get married, she wants to be certain she can provide a comfortable life for her family with or without her husband’s support.

She concluded by saying having financial independence gives a woman confidence and freedom, adding that no one can use money to control or belittle her if she has her own income.

She ended her post by encouraging women to focus on building their careers and financial stability rather than relying solely on marriage.
