“Financing Our Own Projects Is the Path to True Freedom” — Niger’s General Tchiani
Niger’s Head of State, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to self-reliance, declaring that genuine independence can only be achieved when African nations finance their own development.
> “Financing our own projects and programs is the only way we will be truly free.”
The statement reflects Tchiani’s broader vision of reducing dependence on foreign aid and external financing while promoting domestic resource mobilization, economic sovereignty, and sustainable national development.
Since assuming power, the Nigerien leader has consistently advocated policies aimed at strengthening the country’s economic independence, encouraging local investment, and ensuring that national development is driven by internally generated resources rather than external support.
His remarks add to the growing conversation across parts of Africa about self-sufficiency, regional cooperation, and the pursuit of greater economic and political sovereignty.
