Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have successfully rescued the Onigbesi of Onigbesi Community in Isin Local Government Area.

The traditional ruler, Oba Moses Oyinloye Omotayo, and two other ab@ductees were freed following a security operation in the Elerin and Ijomu-Oro area of the state.

One of the k!dnappers was neutralised during the rescue.

The victims had been ab@ducted on August 22.

A news outlet reported that their rescue shows the police command’s commitment to protecting lives and dismantling criminal networks in the state.

The operation started after a report came into Oro Police Station around 10 a.m. from a vigilante named Abdul.

He said one of his men had been shot in the hand while in the bush around the area.

The police chief at Oro Station quickly assembled a team of police officers, military personnel and vigilantes and moved to the location.

When the security team arrived, the suspected k!dnappers opened fire.

An intense gun battle followed.

One of the k!dnappers was neutralised while the others ran into the surrounding bush.

The security team chased after them and managed to rescue the Onigbesi and the two other victims, identified as Maryam Abubakar and Aisha Ilyasu.

The three were immediately taken to a hospital where they received medical care.

They are now safe, according to the police spokesperson.

The State Commissioner of Police praised the courage and professionalism of the officers and their partners for the successful operation.

He said the command is intensifying efforts to track down and arrest the remaining members of the k!dnapping gang.

The commissioner warned that there will be no safe place for k!dnappers and violent criminals in Kwara State.

He urged members of the public to provide information to security agencies.
