Glasgow 2026: Tobi Amusan blames injury for 100m hurdles title loss

World record holder, Tobi Amusan has attributed her failure to successfully defend her women’s 100m hurdles title at the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games to an injury sustained during training.
The Nigerian sprint star crossed the finish line in 12.60 seconds to claim the bronze medal on Thursday night. The Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton took gold in 12.33 seconds, while Jamaica’s Megan Tapper secured silver in 12.41 seconds.
Amusan previously won gold in the event at the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast and Birmingham, respectively.
Speaking after the race, Amusan revealed that a pre-tournament fall impacted her condition leading into the final.
 

“I had a pretty bad fall at training camp, so I’ve been a bit concerned about my knee coming into this meet. But I’m just thankful I was able to hold it together and get on the podium once again,” Amusan revealed.
