Kano donates food items, N1m to family of slain police officer

The Kano State Government has extended a welfare support package to the family of late Inspector Sani Haladu, a police officer who died in the line of duty on March 27, 2026.

The support package includes a cash donation of N1 million and food items comprising five bags of rice, six bags of spaghetti, six bags of macaroni and two 25-litre jerry cans of vegetable oil.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, a copy of which was made available to PidomNigeria Online on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the items were presented at the command headquarters by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mohammed Tajo Othman, on behalf of the Kano State Government.

“The support package presented to the bereaved family includes: Cash donation of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000), food items comprising five bags of rice, six bags of spaghetti, six bags of macaroni and two 25-litre jerry cans of vegetable oil,” the statement said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Lawal Isa Mani, expressed the command’s profound appreciation to the state government for the gesture.

Mani described the late Inspector Haladu as a dedicated, loyal and gallant officer who lost his life while serving the nation.

He noted that the deceased served the command and the people of Kano State with diligence and commitment until his last breath.

“The action of the State Government is highly commendable and a clear demonstration of the existing cordial relationship between the Government and the Police,” Mani said.

He added that the welfare support would boost the morale of serving police officers and reassure them that their sacrifices are recognised and valued by the government and the people of Kano State.

The Commissioner of Police, Bakori, also commended Governor Abba Yusuf and the Kano State Government for the support, reiterating the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state’s 44 local government areas.

He assured the family of the command’s continued support and prayed for the repose of the deceased officer’s soul. He also urged officers and men of the command to remain steadfast, professional and dedicated to duty.

“The Kano State Police Command appreciates the consistent support of the Kano State Government under His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, towards the welfare of police officers and their families,” the commissioner was quoted as saying.

He also called on members of the public to continue supporting the police with credible information to enhance security across the state.
