Keyamo: You must be blind to say there’s no political persecution of Peter Obi – Arise TV’s Rufai

Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni has alleged that the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, is facing political persecution in the country.
Rufai made the claim on Monday while commenting on the alleged violation of airport parking regulations by Obi.
Recall that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, had accused Obi of violating the parking regulations and asked him to apologise.
Speaking on the development during the TV station’s popular programme, The Morning Show, Rufai claimed that there is ongoing political persecution.
“You will be a blind man to say that there is no political persecution of Peter Obi. Their reactions just confirmed it,” he said.
He recalled some serious incidents at the airport that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, allegedly overlooked.
Buttressing his persecution claim, Rufai also recalled a controversial comment by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, who issued a warning to Obi in August 2025, telling him not to enter the state without security clearance.
“We were in this country when they were begging KWAM 1, who went to stand in front of the plane. If Peter Obi had done such a thing, the country would have scattered.
“We were still in this country when Governor Okpebholo said Peter Obi should not enter Edo State without security clearance. Is that not political persecution?” Rufai said.
