Police to arraign ‘fake’ agency DG, Adeniyi Adeyemi Tuesday

The police are set to arraign Adeniyi Adeyemi, a self-acclaimed Director-General (DG) of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.

Adeyemi, alongside two others, is facing an eight-count charge bordering on forgery, impersonation, and related offences, according to court documents.

The charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, was filed on November 27, 2025, by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki.

The case was initially scheduled for June 16 for the defendants to take their plea, but proceedings were adjourned after Adeyemi was reported to be indisposed. Justice Mohammed Umar subsequently fixed a new date for arraignment.

Court documents show that several high-profile individuals have been listed as witnesses, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. Others named are Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede, Ituah Sylvester, and officials from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGoF), including Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Additional witnesses include Ojo Victor, Omeh Amarachukwu, Wakili Saidu — all reportedly linked to the operations of the alleged fictitious agency — as well as Joy Ngwoke, owner of Kachi Hotel in Abuja, and Ven Okoriko, pastor of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Maitama.

The prosecution is expected to tender documentary evidence such as the police investigation report, a petition by Gbajabiamila dated October 17, 2025, and an alleged fake presidential appointment letter dated March 8, 2024.

Other documents include correspondence attributed to Adeyemi seeking approvals from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requests to open accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and documents relating to self-accounting approvals from the AGoF, as well as letters concerning land acquisition and office establishment across the 36 states.

Statements from witnesses and defendants, along with photographic evidence, are also expected to be presented in court.

The police indicated that additional witnesses may be called during the trial as necessary.

Adeyemi is alleged to have operated the non-existent agency from the second floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja, before his arrest.

Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the alleged fictitious agency, giving the commission 30 days to conclude its probe.
