WAFCON 2026: Super Falcons ready to defend crown – Nnadozie

Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie says the team is focused on retaining their title at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.
Justine Madugu’s side will be targeting a record-extending 11th title when hostilities start in Morocco next week.
The defending champions have been placed in a relatively easy group with Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt.
The WAFCON 2026 finals will also serve as the African qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Nnadozie declared that the Super Falcons will also fight to secure a place at the competition.
“We will take it one match at a time because we cannot afford to stumble at any stage as a result of over-confidence. We will be focused squarely on the double targets of FIFA World Cup ticket and retaining the trophy,” Nnadozie told thenff.com.
The WAFCON have also been expanded from 12 to 16 teams.
Nnadozie stated that having more teams in the tournament will make it more competitive.
“It is interesting to have more teams in the finals (16 now, up from 12). That will make the tournament more competitive, but we are calm and focused regardless of the number of teams in the finals,” added the Brighton shot stopper.
