A wife has sparked widespread reactions on social media after claiming she discovered that her husband’s alleged side chick contributed almost ₦1 million toward the payment of their family house rent during a period of financial hardship.
In a viral video, the woman recounted how she allegedly stumbled upon WhatsApp messages revealing that the other woman sold one of her iPhones and a wig to help raise the money.
The discovery, she said, left her stunned and questioning whether side chicks now help married men settle family expenses.
According to her, she met her husband when he had very little, and they built their lives together through years of struggle before his financial situation improved.
“When I met this man, he was very, very poor,” she said, adding that their fortunes later changed through what she described as God’s blessings.
She alleged that after becoming financially successful, her husband began cheating on her and his attitude toward their marriage changed.
“When they start making money, that’s when they start to show you characters that you don’t understand,” she claimed.
Although hurt by the alleged infidelity, she said she chose to remain in the marriage.
However, she claimed that things later took a different turn when her husband’s finances declined and he began struggling to meet family responsibilities, including their children’s school fees and house rent.
According to her, her husband eventually asked whether she could help him pay the rent, but she deliberately refused despite having the money.
“I have the money but I told him I don’t have because I don’t see any reason why I should be paying rent for our house when my husband is unfaithful,” she said.
The woman admitted she watched him repeatedly plead with their landlord for more time, adding that she had mentally prepared to move in with her parents if they were eventually evicted.
She said the love she once had for her husband had faded because of his alleged infidelity.
Months later, she claimed her husband finally paid the rent, leaving her wondering how he managed to raise the money.
According to her, the answer came unexpectedly when she used his phone after her own device developed a problem.
She said a WhatsApp notification from one of his alleged side chicks appeared, prompting her to open the chat out of curiosity.
As she scrolled through the messages, she claimed she discovered conversations in which the woman encouraged her husband during his financial struggles and promised to help him raise money for the rent.
The woman further alleged that the messages showed the side chick eventually contributed about 70 percent of the rent after selling one of her iPhones and one of her wigs.
“Apparently, the money that my husband got to pay our rent, it was the side chick that gave my husband about 70% of it,”she claimed.
She added that the total amount allegedly given to her husband was close to ₦1 million, with the expectation that he would repay the money later.
Rather than reacting angrily, she said she found herself laughing in disbelief as she read the conversations.
She questioned whether the woman had genuinely fallen in love with her husband or had been promised marriage in return for her sacrifices.
Concluding the video, she asked married women whether they had ever discovered that bills paid by their husbands were secretly financed by another woman.
She also asked women involved with married men whether they had ever contributed financially to their partners’ responsibilities.
The woman’s claims have not been independently verified and have sparked mixed reactions online, with social media users debating marriage, infidelity, loyalty and financial sacrifice in relationships.
