Army deploys additional troops to Kebbi to tackle banditry, others

The Nigeria Army under the Command of Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, has deployed additional troops to Kebbi State to curtail the activities of terrorists, armed bandits, and other criminal elements at their flash spots in Yauri Emirate Council Area of the State.
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State disclosed this when he addressed the troops on Friday at their camp in Yauri LGA.
He thanked the Chief of Army Staff for deploying more units to the State, adding that he appreciates the military for their gallantry and valour.
Idris said: I’m happy about your performance.
“The Chief of Army Staff supported by the military hierarchy has answered our prayers by sending you to Kebbi as your presence will complement the operations of other security services.
“The Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski axis is experiencing incursions of bandits from neighbouring states of Niger, Zamfara Kwara and Sokoto.
“Before your arrival, other security agencies have been alive to their responsibilities.
“Your coming will boost their morale.
“I’m impressed by your number.
“I thank the Chief of Army Staff for finding Kebbi worthy by sending us additional troops.”
Governor Idris affirmed commitment to providing an enabling environment for the security services to function optimally.
He added: “The issue of security is the responsibility of all.
“State Governments must be active stakeholders in support of the Federal Government to secure volatile areas, making them safe to allow farmers to go back to cultivate their farms.
“Bandits are trying to embarrass us.
“They are coming to attack our people.
“The security must wipe away these bandits.
“The capability of the military should come to bear.
“Nigeria’s military has the professional ability in service as they exhibited in peace keeping operations in other parts of the World.
“I have confidence in you.”
Earlier, the governor has paid Homage to the Emir of Yauri, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi in his palace, and opened a New Jumu’a Mosque at Tudun-Gwamna area, where he offered the Friday prayer with other worshippers.
The Yauri monarch thanked the Governor for his love and care of the people of Yauri Emirate.
