Breaking: Katsina United new signing dies after collapsing during training match

Katsina United defender Ozor Chinedu has tragically died after collapsing during a pre-season friendly against Niger Tornadoes on Tuesday morning.
The newly signed Katsina United player reportedly slumped on the pitch about 10 to 15 minutes into the match at the Karkanda Stadium in Katsina.
Chinedu, a former Kano Pillars player, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention, where he was subsequently confirmed dead.
His death came shortly after he joined Katsina United ahead of the new season, having previously played for Kano Pillars.
The sudden death has sparked sadness within Nigerian football, with tributes pouring in for the defender.
“It’s devastating for football in Nigeria,” a tribute to the player said.
“May God give his family, friends, the strength to bear this huge loss,” it added.
Another tribute said: “He just started a new chapter with Katsina United and it’s so sad it ended this way. Football will miss him.”
The circumstances surrounding the medical emergency and his death were not immediately disclosed.
