Content Creator Shot Dead While Livestreaming Outside Fast Food Restaurant

A Mexican content creator known for posting comedy videos online has been fatally shot while livestreaming outside a fast-food establishment in Culiacán on Tuesday.

César Gastélum was broadcasting live with two companions when two men arrived on a motorcycle.

One of the assailants opened fire at close range before the pair fled the scene.

Initial confusion arose when police mistook Gastélum for a delivery worker, based on the bright yellow jackets and delivery packages he and his companions were carrying.

His identity was confirmed during the course of the investigation.

No suspects have been apprehended. Investigators are analysing spent cartridges recovered from the location and reviewing surveillance recordings as part of their inquiry.

Authorities have not released information regarding a suspected motive, and it remains unknown whether Gastélum had faced prior threats or intimidation.

His death marks the latest in an ongoing pattern of killings affecting social media personalities across Mexico.

A news correspondent reported that in May 2025, beauty influencer Valeria Márquez, 23, was fatally shot while livestreaming from a salon in Zapopan.

Another online personality, Leobardo “El Gordo Peruci” Aispuro, was killed in Culiacán in December 2024.
