Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has shared his views on early marriage, saying he does not encourage people to marry before the age of 30.

Speaking on a recent podcast episode, the rapper explained that many people have not yet attained emotional, financial and mental maturity by the time they turn 30.

He noted that a lot of young people feel pressured by society to settle down, stressing that one’s 20s should instead be devoted to self-discovery, personal growth and enjoying life, rather than rushing into marriage.

The 35-year-old further encouraged young people to focus on developing themselves instead of yielding to societal expectations.

He argued that getting married in one’s 30s is preferable, urging young people not to let anyone pressure them into marrying before then.

He explained that by the time a person reaches their 30s, they would have gathered more life experience, whereas the 20s are typically a period still spent figuring things out, learning, growing and enjoying life.

He added that it is in one’s 30s that all that accumulated knowledge comes together to help direct one’s life, making it better to wait until then before getting married.
