Man arrested for cyberb#llyin first clas chiefs in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police command has arrested a 31-year-old man identified a Buriba Israel, in connection with alleged cyberb#llying and criminal intimidation of First-Class Chiefs of the Numan Federation through his Facebook Handle *Buriba Israel*
A statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly made and circulated social media publications containing accusations against the traditional rulers.
Nguroje said the publications were considered offensive, disparaging, and capable of undermining their reputation and dignity.
He mentioned that the suspect was arrested following a formal complaint and a subsequent Police investigation into the alleged online activities. Relevant electronic devices and other materials linked to the alleged offences have been recovered and are undergoing further forensic examination as investigation continues.
The police imagemaker said that while citizens have the right to freedom of expression, such rights must be exercised responsibly and within the confines of the law. The use of social media to harass, threaten, intimidate, defame, or deliberately circulate harmful content against individuals or institutions will not be tolerated.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, has directed that the case be thoroughly investigated and that the suspect be made to face the full wrath of the law if found culpable.
