Nigerian Army unveils Bauchi equipment hub to strengthen fight against insecurity

The Nigerian Army says the establishment of the Comprehensive Service Centre in Bauchi State will enhance the serviceability of military equipment and help end insecurity in the country.

The Managing Director of the centre, Maj.-Gen. Chima A. Ekeator, stated this during a facility tour on Thursday in Bauchi.

The centre was established in 2025 in partnership with the China North Industries Corporation, NORINCO.

Ekeator said the centre was designed to carry out comprehensive maintenance of military equipment supplied by NORINCO, covering various levels of maintenance up to Level 4.

He said the services included major overhauls, replacement of major assemblies, and retrofitting.

“Whatever might be the condition of equipment used in the field, once they are brought here they will go back as new.

“The centre will help to improve equipment availability to the Nigerian Army, particularly for ongoing operations in the North-East, North-West and across the country,” he said.

According to Ekeator, the centre will also provide training for army personnel on equipment support activities in the field.

He said the centre has the capacity to simultaneously maintain 20 pieces of equipment, cutting across infantry, armour and artillery.

Earlier, Maj.-Gen. Sunday Mokolo, the Commandant, Nigerian Army Armour School, Bauchi, expressed optimism about a sustainable partnership between the army and NORINCO to boost the supply of military equipment.

Also speaking, an official of NORINCO said the partnership would foster relations between Nigeria and China, as well as between the Nigerian Army and NORINCO.
