Osun election will send strong message to APC – Adeleke

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has said the August 15 election will not only be a contest for political victory, but also serves as an opportunity for the people of the state to send a strong message to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the need to respect their democratic choice.
Adeleke, who is seeking a second term on the platform of Accord Party, stated this in a message shared on his official X handle.
He accused former Osun State Governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, of punishing Osun people for voting for him in 2022.
Adeleke alleged that on numerous occasions, Oyetola and Oyebamiji “used their influence within the ruling party at the federal level to punish the people of Osun State simply because they chose to vote for us in 2022.”
The governor further claimed that the actions of the duo targeted the welfare of Osun workers and threatened the livelihoods of the state’s civil servants, traders, artisans, and ordinary citizens.
He vowed that the August 15 election would be more than “just winning,” stating that the outcome would send a strong message to the ruling party.
“The August 15 election is not just about winning. It is about securing a decisive victory that sends a clear and unmistakable message to the APC that the people of Osun State must always be respected, their democratic choice must be honoured, and no one should seek to punish them for exercising their constitutional right to vote,” Adeleke said.
The governor urged residents to participate actively in the election, describing the poll as an opportunity to reaffirm the will of the people and defend democratic values.
