PFIPC Scandal: ICPC clears Tinubu’s Chief of Staff Gbajabiamila after probe

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has recommended the immediate prosecution of Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew after concluding its investigation into the fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), presenting its interim findings to President Bola Tinubu on Thursday.
The findings effectively clear President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, of any involvement or wrongdoing in the scandal. Prior to the submission of the interim report, Gbajabiamila had voluntarily honoured an invitation by the ICPC, cooperating fully with investigators to provide a statement and answer all questions regarding the matter.
Forensic examination by law enforcement also confirmed that Gbajabiamila’s signature on the appointment letters paraded by Adeyemi was completely forged.
ICPC Chairman Musa Adamu, SAN, said the investigation confirmed that Adeyemi was never appointed by the Federal Government and that the PFIPC was never created by any law, executive order, or valid government instrument.
Adamu stated this while addressing State House correspondents at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa following the briefing on Thursday August 6.
He explained that the investigation confirmed that Adeyemi was never appointed by the Federal Government and that the PFIPC, which also appeared in some documents as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, was never created by any law, executive order, or valid government instrument.
