Primate Elijah Ayodele, the founder of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has stated that he does not think Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress’s presidential candidate, and Rabi’u Kwankwaso, his running mate, will make much headway in the general elections of 2027.
Speaking to his church, the clergyman made the comments in a video that was posted on social media.
He argued that the NDC would have been better positioned had it merged with the African Democratic Congress to form a coalition, rather than contesting alone.
It will be recalled that Obi and Kwankwaso left the ADC for the NDC in May, citing internal divisions and ongoing court cases.
Reacting to their move, Primate Ayodele said the party ought to have joined forces with the ADC instead of going solo, arguing that contesting independently leaves the NDC out of serious contention.
He said that although the pairing is popularly referred to as “OK,” representing Obi and Kwankwaso, he does not see anything favourable about their chances, stating plainly that he does not see the duo making any meaningful headway in the 2027 presidential election.
