A Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after revealing some unusual things her husband does not allow her to do in their marriage.
According to the woman, her husband prefers to personally handle certain responsibilities and will not allow her to take them over, even when she offers to help.
She revealed that one of the things her husband refuses to let her do is wash his clothes because he believes she does not know how to wash them properly.
She also claimed that he does not allow her to shave herself, insisting that she does not know how to do it correctly.
The woman further disclosed that her husband does not allow her to pay household bills, even when she wants to use her own salary.
She explained that whenever she pays an electricity bill of ₦10,000 or ₦20,000, her husband reimburses her when he returns home.
“He’ll never let me pay bills. For instance, if I pay NEPA bill of 20k or 10k, when he comes back he’ll give me back and say so that I won’t say all my salary is what I’m spending for the family,” she said.
According to her, her husband does this because he does not want her to feel that her entire salary is being spent on the family.
The woman also revealed that despite disagreements, her husband does not allow them to sleep in separate rooms.
She said whenever she threatens to sleep in the parlour after an argument, her husband follows her there. If she later returns to the bedroom, he also comes back.
“Although we can put pillows in between,” she added.
Her revelations have generated conversations online about how couples share responsibilities, manage finances and handle disagreements in marriage.
