Kaduna govt increases traditional rulers’ salaries, approves security allowances

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved an upward review of salaries and allowances for traditional rulers across the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, announced the approval in a statement on Thursday in Kaduna.

Mr Maiyaki said the review covered Emirs, Chiefs, District Heads and Village Heads across the state.

Mr Maiyaki further announced that Sani approved monthly security allowances for all 35 Emirates and Chiefdoms in the state.

He said the security allowances would take effect from Sept. 1, 2026.

According to him, the allowances are intended to strengthen grassroots intelligence gathering and support security agencies in tackling crime and other security threats.

Mr Maiyaki said the approvals underscored Sani’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and providing support for peace, security and development.

He described traditional rulers as an important bridge between government, security agencies and communities, particularly in intelligence gathering and community engagement.

Mr Maiyaki urged residents to cooperate with traditional institutions and security agencies by providing timely and credible information.

He said such cooperation would help safeguard lives and property and contribute to a safer and more prosperous Kaduna State.
