Two arrested as Army rescues retired Generalâs k!dnapped wife

The Nigerian Army has rescued the wife of retired Brigadier General Basil Adonkie, Mrs Adonkie, after she was abducted from her residence in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, September 1.
Shortly after her abduction, troops of the Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters Garrison to launch a coordinated operation to track the abductors.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops pursued the k!dnappers through the Aco Estate–Goza Community axis and made contact with the criminals.
The pressure from the troops reportedly forced the k!dnappers to abandon their victim and flee into nearby bushes. Mrs Adonkie was subsequently rescued at Angwan Sabo Village.
The Army intensified its pursuit along the Aco Estate–Angwan Sayawa axis, while additional troops were deployed to block possible escape routes.
In a follow-up operation on Wednesday, 2 September, troops intercepted two suspected members of the k!dnapping syndicate near Gaube Village in Kuje Area Council.
The operation also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, one magazine and 19 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
The Army said clearance and tracking operations were continuing across the area to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
