Popular comedian De General has weighed in on Nigeria’s worsening security situation, expressing the view that street protests are no longer a viable tool for driving meaningful change in the country.
Speaking during a livestream alongside TikToker Johbad, the comedian reflected on the outcome of past protests, arguing that they have consistently failed to produce tangible results and have instead come at a heavy human cost.
He pointed to a previous protest in which lives were lost, yet authorities maintained that nothing significant had occurred an outcome he said undermines the case for taking to the streets.
Instead, De General urged Nigerians to channel their energy into the electoral process, emphasizing that the most powerful tool available to citizens is their vote.
He called on people to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and commit to participating in free and fair elections as the most effective means of determining who leads the country.
