How ammunition parcel was delivered to FirstBank MD in Lagos – Police

Tijani Fatai, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, has confirmed that an investigation is underway following the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition to the residence of Olusegun Alebiosu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Bank Nigeria.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Fatai disclosed that the incident was reported to the police on May 7, 2026, after a security guard at the residence received the parcel.
According to the police chief, the parcel was opened and found to contain two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, a discovery he described as highly suspicious.
“Presently, I can confirm to you that the matter is still under investigation. It is a serious case, and the investigation needs to be thorough,” he said.
Fatai noted that no arrests have been made so far, although the First Bank MD has provided names of individuals he suspects may be connected to the incident.
“Even though the MD has mentioned some people who he suspected of being the brains behind it, that remains his suspicion. We are still working on it,” he added.
The commissioner made the clarification while responding to questions regarding the reported delivery of the parcel.
He also revealed that operatives of the Lagos State Police Command recently arrested several suspects linked to various crimes and recovered multiple items, including 14 firearms, four live cartridges, 51 mobile phones, one motorcycle, 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms, and vandalised electrical cables.
The police said investigations into the parcel incident are ongoing, with efforts focused on identifying those responsible and determining the motive behind the act.
