2027: Kano Governor Yusuf Announces Running Mate for Governorship Election

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has confirmed that Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo will remain his running mate in the 2027 governorship election.

The announcement was made during a meeting with political appointees serving in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The gathering took place at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, where discussions focused on political developments and preparations ahead of future elections.

Speaking at the meeting, Governor Yusuf expressed confidence in his deputy, saying Garo had continued to justify the trust placed in him since the administration came into office.

The governor said his decision was influenced by the deputy governor’s commitment to duty, loyalty to the administration and contributions to governance in the state.

“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my Deputy in the last few months, and he has proven to be the right choice so far. I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him,” Yusuf said.

According to the governor, the deputy governor has played an important role in supporting government policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of Kano residents.

Yusuf noted that Garo had consistently demonstrated responsibility and dedication in carrying out assignments entrusted to him. He added that the partnership between both leaders had helped the administration pursue its development agenda more effectively.

“His contributions have been remarkable, and his commitment to the progress of Kano State has remained unquestionable. Together, we will continue to work towards achieving the goals we set for our people,” the governor added.

The governor also used the opportunity to call on party leaders, supporters and political stakeholders to remain united as preparations gradually begin ahead of the next general election cycle.

He stressed the need for cooperation among members of the political family, saying unity would be critical in sustaining the administration’s achievements and strengthening its position in future contests.

“We must remain focused, united and committed as we continue to build on the progress recorded by this administration and prepare for the challenges ahead,” he said.
