Golden Boy Kojo Safo Jr. Arrives At Contested Kantanka Funeral Despite Injunction

Published

Kojo Safo Junior, popularly known as Golden Boy, has arrived at the funeral grounds in Gomoa Mpota to pay his final respects to his late father, Apostle Prof. Emeritus Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, joining the thousands who have defied a High Court injunction to attend the final funeral rites.

Videos from the scene show an emotional Golden Boy embracing mourners under a red-and-black funeral canopy, as the ceremony continued amid ongoing legal uncertainty.

Golden Boy is one of the late Apostle’s three sons, alongside Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena and Nana Yaw, who were previously named as potential successors to lead the Kristo Asafo Mission following their father’s passing.

His presence at the funeral adds another layer to what has become one of Ghana’s most closely watched family disputes, with the Accra High Court having granted a 10-day interim injunction restraining former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo from proceeding with the burial, following a legal challenge from the Kristo Asafo Mission over the late founder’s estate.

Despite the unresolved court battle, family members, church loyalists, and public figures alike have continued arriving at Gomoa Mpota, signalling that whatever the courts eventually decide, the public farewell to the celebrated inventor is already well underway.
