BUA Cement Trains 60 Sokoto Youths, Offers Jobs to Graduates

Ahmed Aliyu, the governor of Sokoto State, has promised that his administration will work to create an environment that is favorable to economic operations in the state.

The commitment was made during the graduation ceremony of 60 community youths trained in the operation of heavy-duty machinery by BUA Cement Plc, Sokoto Plant, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme in its host communities.

The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, attended the brief ceremony held at the company’s premises on Wednesday.

The Commissioner commended BUA Cement for its sustained dedication to creating employment opportunities, minimising youth unemployment and contributing to economic development across the state.

He stressed that initiatives equipping young people with practical skills enhance employability and strengthen the state’s economic foundation.

The Commissioner noted the administration’s support for BUA Cement’s endeavours to expand Sokoto’s business landscape and benefit residents.

He identified human capital development, poverty alleviation and skills training as essential drivers against unemployment and as catalysts for purposeful youth entrepreneurship and innovation.

BUA Cement’s Assistant Director of Human Resources disclosed that the training programme encompassed six months of intensive instruction and practical assessment covering various equipment operations. Of the successful graduands, 52 received employment offers from the company, and the company urged new employees to maintain discipline and compliance with organisational standards.

BUA Cement’s Managing Director, represented by the Head of Administration and Corporate Affairs, characterised the initiative as designed to strengthen workforce expertise and specialised capabilities.

He acknowledged the Sokoto State Government’s support and cooperation in facilitating the company’s business and community development objectives, emphasising BUA Cement’s commitment to positioning Sokoto as a place of opportunity through various corporate social responsibility programmes.

Traditional rulers from the host community expressed gratitude for BUA Cement’s responsive approach to youth development and community advancement. Certificates were distributed to the graduates by company management and traditional leaders.
