Chelsea Rule Out Enzo Fernandez Exit Amid Manchester City Interest

Chelsea’s manager Xabi Alonso has made it clear the club isn’t letting midfielder Enzo Fernandez leave.
Speculation has been swirling about the 25-year-old Argentine since Manchester City started sniffing around, but Chelsea shut that down fast when the deadline for formal bids passed on August 14 without any offer coming in.
Alonso said before Chelsea’s opening Premier League match against Fulham that Fernandez is staying put and is ready for Monday.
He explained that the midfielder has settled back in well since returning after the World Cup and is training hard with good energy, which is exactly what the club wants from him.
Manchester City are still keen on bringing Fernandez in to boost their midfield, but Chelsea’s stance hasn’t budged he’s not going anywhere this summer.
Even though some fans gave him mixed reactions during pre-season friendlies, the club showed how much they back him by handing him the captain’s armband in a recent game against Real Sociedad.
There’s still time before the transfer window closes on September 1, so the story might not be completely over.
But based on what Alonso has said, Chelsea are getting ready to keep Fernandez in their plans for the season ahead.
